My Recruiting Story

My recruiting career began in 1997 as a freelance researcher for a Bay Street executive search firm.  Its specialty was offering fees for service with a promise of taking on no more than one search per sector at any given time. With NCR as their first and only tech client, I quickly built an extensive network of data warehousing executives

These first contacts led me to work for a handful of boutique recruiting firms whose foundations were built exclusively on the early successes of software and telecommunications startups, in what would be called the Emerging Technology Sector.

With startups and growth companies as my focus until 2007, I remain passionate about clients and candidates with a penchant for ‘greenfield opportunities‘ and complex turn-around challenges. 

From 2013 to 2019 I focused on Canada’s broader public and not-for-profit sectors. My research uncovered exceptional leaders for positions that were filled as far north as Iqaluit, Nunavut and as far West as Regina, Saskatchewan.  From Deputy Ministers, Commissioners, and Chief-level executives, I delivered professionals specialized in areas such as health and community services, legal counsel, corrections, communications, human resources, municipal administration, finance, transportation, technology, and urban planning.

Since the fall of 2020, I have been back in the private sector. I spent a year focused on placing full-time and interim leaders in the mid-market, working with clients in healthcare, industrial manufacturing and consumer packaged goods. In 2021 I joined EMA Partners, we specialize in placing senior level executives with clients in the broader global payments sector, an incredibly exciting market chock full of innovation and socially significant advances.
