Unemployment is a chance to recreate your self!

How about starting your day by clearing the shoulds and the coulds out of the way, and saying to your self,

Make a weekly committment that you’ll do 3 things a day towards that…….that’s 60 things a month……beyond interviewing and sending your resume

Try:

  • cold calling a professional you admire and ask them for coffee or lunch or invite them to participate in an event,

  • research volunteering opportunities related to interests you have,
  • find a part time course to give your self some soul food -spark a new interest like silver smithing, watercolor painting etc etc,
  • look  into government subsidised programs for:career mapping, start up grants and professional development ,
  • research and develop ways to refine your brand through social networking,
  • join a group or association in a field you want to know more about, many groups are open that way,
  • find a support group in your neighbourhood or start one – I see them in starbucks all the time-seriously!

I am the founder of i-identify inc., a Toronto-based recruiting company, founded in 2013. My research uncovers full-time, interim and contract professionals who are leaders in their respective fields. My early work was focused on the emerging tech - sector, and later expanded into retail and consumer packaged goods technologies. In the past five to six years I have broadened my expertise to include Canada's public and not-for-profit sectors, working on assignments as far north as Iqaluit, uncovering talent as senior as Deputy Ministers, Commissioners and executives at the C level. I've become a search generalist who specializes in identifying great talent.
